Why should we care about their work?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people living in Mexico wouldn\u2019t know how to answer these questions. Many of them would even think of the caricature of a mad scientist confined to his laboratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if we told them there\u2019s a researcher who has spent more than 10 years studying how to <a href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/biotecnologia\/cultivos-de-carne\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">turn tortillas into a next-generation protein<\/a> that helps prevent millions of Mexicans from getting certain illnesses? How about the professor promoting interdisciplinary research <a href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/human-social\/identify-acts-of-corruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">using Artificial Intelligence and Big Data so that we can discover and report acts of corruption<\/a> by governments? What if they knew that <a href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/tech\/lab-cornea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corneas are being grown for transplants<\/a> to help thousands of people recover their sight?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I could keep on listing examples, but I don\u2019t think you need them. Researchers aren\u2019t disconnected from reality, quite the contrary. Their work is focused on <strong>improving people\u2019s lives,<\/strong> finding <strong>solutions<\/strong> to the problems humanity is up against, and <strong>innovating<\/strong> on processes to reduce costs, pollute less, and so on.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gap between society and science is partly due to the difficulty of \u201ctranslating\u201d research into a language that most people understand, of explaining the impact that a scientific breakthrough could have on people\u2019s daily lives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>TecScience<\/em> was created with the mission of closing that gap, and we\u2019re looking forward to getting the chance to show you the work being done by more than<a href=\"https:\/\/tec.mx\/en\/research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> 700 researchers at Tec de Monterrey<\/a> through its different institutes, centers, and multidisciplinary research groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inside <em>TecScience<\/em>, you\u2019ll find features, interviews, enriched articles, infographics, videos prepared by our team of journalists, and science communication articles written by our own researchers, all wrapped up in an innovative design that will make the reading experience more enjoyable for you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thanks for reading our site, and welcome to this new knowledge adventure!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>P.S.
