{"id":157405,"date":"2023-05-22T18:55:52","date_gmt":"2023-05-22T18:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/?p=157405"},"modified":"2023-05-22T18:59:44","modified_gmt":"2023-05-22T18:59:44","slug":"wun-universities-network-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/business-innovation\/wun-universities-network-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"World Universities Network exploring solutions to climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/registration.wun.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Universities Network (WUN)<\/a>, which brings together 24 world-leading research and higher education universities from five continents \u2014including Tec de Monterrey\u2014 will meet from May 22 to 24, at the Monterrey Campus in Nuevo Le\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the Tec will host the meeting that is planned to open the <strong>analysis on the role of educational institutions in the face of the global environmental crisis<\/strong> and what solutions they can provide in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/registration.wun.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WUN Annual General Meeting 2023<\/a><\/strong>, which will be opened by Peter Lennie, Executive Director of WUN, and <strong>David Garza Salazar<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/tec.mx\/es\/conocenos\/oficina-del-rector-y-presidente-ejecutivo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rector and Executive President of Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey<\/a>, is part of a WUN initiative that brings together major universities from diverse geographic and cultural contexts to form an association that uses its talent and resources to solve highly important research problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through its Research Development Fund, WUN supports collaborative research that focuses on major global challenges, such as climate change, public health, worldwide research and higher education, and cultural understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>WUN Universities network forum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Also held as part of the meeting will be the WUN Presidents Forum 2023, entitled <em>Universities\u2019 Contributions to Environmental Sustainability<\/em>, which will focus on the role of universities in leading the way for environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Forum will examine three key themes: leadership in research, leadership in education and curriculum, and leadership in policy and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A student mental health working group will also be included, as will other sessions to discuss innovating the mathematics curriculum in times of change and the low carbon energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On behalf of the Tec, researcher <a href=\"https:\/\/research.tec.mx\/vivo-tec\/display\/PID_299153\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Jes\u00fas Valdez Res\u00e9ndiz<\/strong> <\/a>will present the development of a low-cost, high-efficiency battery charger for electric vehicles in emerging markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating institutions will include the University of Rochester, the University of Cape Town, National Cheng Kung University, Makerere University, the University of Bristol, the University of Alberta, and the University of York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>WUN Annual General Meeting 2023 program<\/strong> can be consulted on the <a href=\"https:\/\/wun.ac.uk\/article\/wun-annual-general-meeting-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WUN<\/a> website.
