TecScience<\/em><\/strong> podcast Historias para mentes curiosas<\/a> (Spanish), was honored at the 2024 National Health Journalism Awards<\/strong><\/a>, which celebrate works that have significantly contributed to disseminating information in the health field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The jury highlighted the project “Mushrooms and Psilocybin Microdosing to Combat Depression: Everything You Need to Know<\/a>,” which received an Honorable Mention<\/strong> in the Audio Content <\/strong>category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This acclaimed episode delves into the use of psilocybin<\/strong> as a treatment for mental illnesses like depression<\/a>, urging the promotion of scientific research on this compound in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award was organized by Merck<\/strong>, a company dedicated to developing science and technology for the past 300 years. Cristian Von Schulz Hausmann<\/strong>, Merck’s General Manager in Mexico, noted the complex and challenging environment in which health journalism operates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I want to tell you that we doctors<\/strong> often rely on the work of journalists; it’s impossible to keep up with all the advancements. As a cardiologist, I need to stay updated,” said Von Schulz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merck, Opini\u00f3n 51, TV UNAM, El Economista, Universidad de Guadalajara, El Universal, and S\u00edntesis TV recognized the journalists who participated in their projects for providing health information during 2022 and 2023. This inaugural version of the award received over 100 journalistic projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1st Place:<\/strong> Itzel Elizabeth G\u00f3mez Gurrola and Carlos Antonio S\u00e1nchez Rodr\u00edguez with the project “Less Than a Meter and a Half,” published in Pan Pal Susto Podcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honorable Mention:<\/strong> Carmina de la Luz, In\u00e9s Gutierrez, Karina Rodr\u00edguez, and Orlando Oliveros with the project “Mushrooms and Psilocybin Microdosing to Combat Depression: Everything You Need to Know,” published in Stories for Curious Minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
