{"id":168586,"date":"2025-03-13T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/?p=168586"},"modified":"2025-03-20T11:58:10","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T17:58:10","slug":"qs-world-university-rankings-by-subject-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/human-social\/qs-world-university-rankings-by-subject-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Tec improves its positions in areas and disciplines in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey<\/strong> has secured a spot in the global Top 100 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topuniversities.com\/subject-rankings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025<\/a> in two key academic areas: Social Sciences &amp; Management (ranked 35th) and Engineering &amp; Technology (ranked 58th).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This ranking evaluates the impact and quality of research, academic reputation, and employer recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, <strong>the university placed 29 of its disciplines<\/strong>\u2014one more than last year\u2014among the 55 assessed. Four are ranked within the global Top 50, and ten made it into the Top 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<strong>The results of this ranking reflect the dedication and vision of our deans, their teams, and our entire faculty<\/strong>. It is an honor to recognize our professors, who advance knowledge in service of society across their disciplines, making it possible for us to continue making a global impact,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/tec.mx\/en\/about-us\/rectors-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Juan Pablo Murra<\/a>, Rector of Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The QS Ranking by Subject 2025 maintained the same <strong>55 disciplines<\/strong> from the previous edition, grouped into <strong>five broad subject areas<\/strong>. This year, 5,203 institutions from 148 countries were analyzed, with 1,747 in the global ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur progress in the QS WUR by Subject <strong>is a testament to the impact of our research and academic excellence<\/strong>. This achievement is thanks to the talent and commitment of our faculty researchers, whose dedication drives knowledge and innovation. We remain committed to research as a fundamental pillar for generating solutions that contribute to sustainable development and the well-being of our society,\u201d said <a href=\"\/en\/human-social\/feniosky-pena-mora-first-latino-president-of-the-american-society-of-civil-engineers-asce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Feniosky Pe\u00f1a-Mora<\/a>, Executive Vice President for Research at Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey and National Dean of the <a href=\"\/en\/tag\/school-of-engineering-and-sciences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">School of Engineering and Sciences<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>10 Tec disciplines ranked in the Top 100 of the QS Rankings by Subject 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, <strong>Tec de Monterrey secured 10 disciplines within the Top 100 of the global rankings<\/strong>\u2014one more than last year. Four of these disciplines are ranked among the world\u2019s Top 50. The subjects in which the university stood out are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Top 50<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Business &amp; Management Studies (Rank 21)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marketing (Rank 25)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Art &amp; Design (Rank 40)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>History of Art (Ranked in the 21-50 band)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Top 100<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accounting &amp; Finance (Rank 58)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Education (Rank 65)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computer Science &amp; Information Systems (Rank 80)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engineering &#8211; Mechanical, Aeronautical &amp; Manufacturing (Rank 91)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Architecture (Rank 51-100)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data Science &amp; Artificial Intelligence (Rank 51-100)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of the 29 subjects that Tec de Monterrey placed in the rankings, <strong>nine moved up compared to last year<\/strong>. Additionally, <strong>four disciplines made their debut<\/strong>: History of Art, Data Science &amp; Artificial Intelligence, Materials Science, and Statistics &amp; Operational Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Disciplines by Tec de Monterrey Schools<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The report also highlights <strong>the contribution of each national school within the institution<\/strong>. The university holds <strong>the first spot in Latin America for Engineering &amp; Technology<\/strong>, while Social Sciences &amp; Management ranks 3rd. These are followed by Natural Sciences (10th place), Arts &amp; Humanities (12th place), and Life Sciences &amp; Medicine (13th place) in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, <strong>the university holds the first position in Latin America in eight subjects<\/strong>: Computer Science &amp; Information Systems, Data Science &amp; Artificial Intelligence, Architecture, Art &amp; Design, History of Art, Accounting &amp; Finance, Business &amp; Management Studies, and Marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In Mexico, the university ranks first in Engineering &amp; Technology <\/strong>and holds the second position in all other broad subject areas. When it comes to specific disciplines, <strong>Tec de Monterrey is ranked first in 14 out of the 29 ranked subjects at the national level<\/strong>, second in another 14 disciplines, and holds a third-place ranking in one discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Research and Reputation: Tec de Monterrey Improves in Key Subject Areas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This global ranking is conducted by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)<\/strong>, a British company specializing in education, which evaluates universities across five broad areas of knowledge and 55 specific disciplines. The methodology considers indicators such as Citations per Paper, H-Index Citations (which measures the relationship between research productivity and citation impact), International Research Network, Academic Reputation, and Employer Reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on these indicators, Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey improved its position in four subject areas in this edition. Among its highest-ranked fields worldwide, Social Sciences &amp; Management moved up one spot to 35th place, achieving an overall score of 81.3 out of 100, while Engineering &amp; Technology climbed three places to reach 58th place with a score of 78.6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other areas also showed improvement compared to the previous year. Life Sciences &amp; Medicine made a significant jump of 19 positions, securing the 375th spot with a score of 60.2. Meanwhile, Natural Sciences advanced from the 401-450 band to 385th place, earning a score of 63.2.
