Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey has climbed 13 spots in the Academic Reputation indicator<\/strong> of the QS World University Rankings 2026<\/a>, reaching 136th place globally in this category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the third consecutive year, the institution has advanced in this area, 28 places in total, an indicator that assesses how academic excellence is perceived at universities<\/strong>, based on surveys conducted among education sector experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this upward trend in Academic Reputation\u2014which carries the most weight in the overall score at 30%\u2014the university also improved in other metrics such as Sustainability and International Research Network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nationally, Tec ranks second in Academic Reputation, which reflects how the global academic community views research-focused higher education institutions in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this year\u2019s edition of the rankings<\/a>, the university remains among the world\u2019s Top 200 institutions overall<\/strong>, holding the 187th position globally<\/strong>. Tec also retains its status as the number one private university in Mexico<\/strong> and now ranks 29th globally among private institutions<\/strong>, up one spot from last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tec Moves Up in Sustainability and International Research Network<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the Sustainability <\/strong>metric, Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey rose 29 places<\/strong> to rank 262nd globally. The institution earned a score of 73.8 out of 100 in this category\u2014an improvement of 19.4 points compared to the previous edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This score is based on results from the previous QS Sustainability Ranking<\/strong> cycle, which assesses the social and environmental impact of universities as centers of education and research. The evaluation includes areas such as sustainability-focused research, environmental stewardship, equity, governance, educational impact, health, and well-being, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The university also made significant progress in the International Research Network<\/strong> indicator, jumping 219 positions<\/strong> to reach 451st place. It earned a score of 74.6 in this category, representing an 18-point increase compared to the 2025 edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This metric evaluates the richness and diversity of a university\u2019s international research partnerships. It focuses on collaborative research and its role in enhancing the quality and transparency of science, as well as in tackling urgent global challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tec also improved its score in the Citations per Faculty indicator<\/strong>, doubling from 2.4 to 4.8. This reflects a rise in the average number of citations per faculty member, which increased from 16.3 to 21.2. The score is calculated using data from Scopus and serves as an estimate of the impact and quality of the scientific work produced at universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This recognition further establishes Tec as a key player in the global research ecosystem with meaningful impact from Latin America.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tec in the QS World University Rankings 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the 2026 edition of the rankings published by Quacquarelli Symonds<\/a>, Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey holds the 187th spot globally<\/strong> and ranks sixth in Latin America. This year, the evaluation considered 8,467 institutions\u201449% more than the previous year\u2014across 106 countries, with 1,501 universities making the final global list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the overall score, Tec earned 57.1 points, a 19% increase compared to the previous edition, nine points higher than in the 2025 ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
