{"id":173162,"date":"2026-04-24T16:10:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T22:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/?p=173162"},"modified":"2026-04-27T16:26:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T22:26:52","slug":"new-ai-tools-for-researchers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/tech\/new-ai-tools-for-researchers\/","title":{"rendered":"New Generative AI Tools that can Accelerate your Research"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-b729856c-af94-470e-bbbe-c77d1f27896d\">Two new artificial intelligence tools developed at Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey can support the day-to-day work of its researchers, from organizing information and reviewing and comparing scientific literature to structuring summaries, presentations, and other specialized materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-759a8cec-c63c-4ab4-b2e9-31de306e5b20\">These tools, <strong>Skill<\/strong> and <strong>Agent<\/strong>, are part of <a href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/tech\/tecgpt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>TECgpt<\/strong>, the generative AI ecosystem created by Tec de Monterrey<\/a> to enhance human capabilities, foster faculty creativity, and enrich teaching through secure and private technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-f7c98b99-c545-4f2b-aa40-3409f546ad37\">These developments were unveiled during the third edition of Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey\u2019s <strong>AI Day<\/strong>. \u201cWe are <strong>moving artificial intelligence from exploration to practical application<\/strong>, integrating it into academic, administrative, and clinical processes to generate real value that accelerates innovation,\u201d said Carles Abarca, Vice President of Digital Transformation at Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-29dc57e5-6cf0-454b-8839-37c09afdfae2\">An ecosystem that supports researchers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-effdd36b-2f34-4811-9550-c3330ab531b7\"><strong>TECgpt<\/strong> aims to democratize access to these technologies within the university community, making it easier to carry out tasks in academic, scientific, administrative, and operational settings. One of its goals is to \u201csupport and coach different institutions in the agile, efficient, and structured development of AI-based solutions,\u201d explains Manuel Ter\u00e1n, Manager of the Center for Architecture and Intelligence Enablement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-6b704c0d-4baf-4aaf-85c1-621978313be0\">For researchers, this support translates into access to platforms that can be integrated into their workflows without requiring advanced knowledge of programming or artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-4a3a35ac-87cf-4dd8-ad42-ff4ab10bdc4a\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/business-innovation\/horizons-architecture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Edgar Barroso<\/a><\/strong>, a researcher at the School of Social Sciences and Government, notes that the usefulness of any AI assistant depends on both the model and the researcher\u2019s judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-fcfb2dba-bf99-4514-95d1-af963bb905f1\">\u201cFor researchers, it is now uncommon to rely on a single tool. There are multiple AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Elicit, Consensus, Scispace, Scite, Connected Papers), and each excels at a specific task. <strong>The main value of TECgpt is that it provides a space with institutional guarantees<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-c668c4a9-5906-43df-830c-e74db092372a\">This is key for protecting the <strong>confidentiality of materials<\/strong> such as unpublished hypotheses, preliminary data, or grant proposals, which should not be uploaded to public tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-1180b7cf-c9de-4715-a06f-0a0488a05fc8\">According to Barroso, <strong>potential uses of TECgpt in research<\/strong> include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-65c0d387-6915-49d3-b810-c6821038d63b\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>An epistemic interlocutor and confidential workspace (not just a text generator):<\/strong> TECgpt can be used to challenge methodological decisions (\u201cWhat would a reviewer object to?\u201d \u201cArgue why my hypothesis is false\u201d). Its value lies in cognitive friction and the quality of dialogue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Composing critical dialogues between sources:<\/strong> TECgpt allows different papers to \u201cconverse\u201d in order to identify convergences, tensions, or gaps, making it easier to work with selected literature. It also supports routine tasks such as formatting references, drafting emails, or organizing notes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Building a disciplined and documented prompting practice:<\/strong> It is now essential to record prompts, models, versions, and dates for each relevant use of AI.
