El Nobel de F\u00edsica 2021 fue concedido este martes a dos expertos en la modelizaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica del cambio clim\u00e1tico<\/strong>, el japon\u00e9s-estadounidense Syukuro Manabe<\/strong> y el alem\u00e1n Klaus Hasselmann<\/strong>; as\u00ed como al te\u00f3rico italiano Giorgio Parisi<\/strong>, experto en el desorden en los sistemas complejos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desde 1995, cuando el Nobel reconoci\u00f3 las investigaciones sobre el agujero en la capa de ozono<\/strong>, realizadas tambi\u00e9n por Mario Molina<\/a><\/strong>, el Comit\u00e9 no premiaba trabajos directamente relacionados con el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahora lo hace en un contexto de emergencia completamente diferente<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mensaje del Nobel: Cambio Clim\u00e1tico<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A un mes de la COP26, cumbre mundial sobre el clima organizada en Glasgow (Reino Unido), el premio concedido a los dos expertos en meteorolog\u00eda y climatolog\u00eda tendr\u00e1, a buen seguro, un fuerte eco pol\u00edtico<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abLos dirigentes mundiales que todav\u00eda no han entendido el mensaje, no lo van a entender porque lo digamos nosotros<\/strong>. Pero \u00e9ste es un premio de F\u00edsica y lo que estamos diciendo es que la modelizaci\u00f3n del clima est\u00e1 s\u00f3lidamente basada en la f\u00edsica\u00bb, explic\u00f3 Thors Hans Hansson<\/strong>, miembro del comit\u00e9 del Nobel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agreg\u00f3 que \u201clos descubrimientos que se est\u00e1n reconociendo este a\u00f1o demuestran que nuestro conocimiento sobre el clima descansa sobre una base cient\u00edfica s\u00f3lida, basada en un an\u00e1lisis riguroso de las observaciones. Todos los galardonados de este a\u00f1o han contribuido a que obtengamos una visi\u00f3n m\u00e1s profunda de las propiedades y la evoluci\u00f3n de los sistemas f\u00edsicos complejos\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vale destacar que Al Gore y expertos del Panel Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Clim\u00e1tico de las Naciones Unidas (IPCC) ganaron el premio Nobel de la Paz en 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El investigador del efecto invernadero<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Los expertos en meteorolog\u00eda Syukuro Manabe<\/strong>, nacido en Jap\u00f3n hace 90 a\u00f1os<\/strong>, pero residente en Princeton, Estados Unidos, y Klaus Hasselmann<\/strong>, de 89 a\u00f1os<\/strong>, fueron distinguidos con la mitad del premio por \u00abla modelizaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica del clima de la Tierra y por haber cuantificado la variabilidad y predicho de forma fiable el cambio clim\u00e1tico\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El comit\u00e9 del Nobel recompens\u00f3 as\u00ed la obra fundacional de Manabe <\/strong>sobre el efecto invernadero<\/strong> de los a\u00f1os 1960, con los que mostr\u00f3 que los niveles de CO2 en la atm\u00f3sfera se correspond\u00edan con un aumento de la temperatura terrestre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un panorama irreversible<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Klaus Hasselmann<\/strong>, radicado en Hamburgo al norte de Alemania, fue reconocido por haber logrado establecer unos modelos clim\u00e1ticos fiables<\/strong>, pese a las grandes variaciones meteorol\u00f3gicas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desde 1988, el investigador advirti\u00f3 de un<\/strong> cambio clim\u00e1tico \u00abirreversible\u00bb<\/strong>, record\u00f3 el instituto alem\u00e1n Max Planck, donde trabajaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abEn los pr\u00f3ximos 30 a 100 a\u00f1os \u2013dependiendo de la cantidad de energ\u00eda f\u00f3sil que consumamos\u2013 haremos frente a un cambio clim\u00e1tico muy significativo\u00bb, predijo el investigador en la d\u00e9cada de los 80.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Predecir fen\u00f3menos aleatorios<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La mitad del premio fue atribuida al italiano Giorgo Parisi, de 73 a\u00f1os y radicado en Roma<\/strong>. En la d\u00e9cada de 1980, Parisi descubri\u00f3 patrones ocultos en materiales complejos desordenados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sus descubrimientos se encuentran entre las contribuciones m\u00e1s importantes a la teor\u00eda de sistemas complejos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esto permite comprender y describir muchos materiales y fen\u00f3menos diferentes \u2212aparentemente\u2212 completamente aleatorios, no solo en la f\u00edsica sino tambi\u00e9n en otras \u00e1reas muy diferentes, como las matem\u00e1ticas<\/a>, la biolog\u00eda, la neurociencia y el aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En la conferencia de prensa con la Fundaci\u00f3n Nobel, el investigador estuvo de acuerdo con la urgencia clim\u00e1tica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abCreo que es muy urgente que tomemos decisiones fuertes [por el clima]. Est\u00e1 claro que debemos actuar r\u00e1pidamente y sin demora en favor de las generaciones futuras\u00bb, afirm\u00f3 Parisi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los tres galardonados se repartir\u00e1n los 10 millones de coronas suecas (1.1 millones de d\u00f3lares) del premio seg\u00fan esta proporci\u00f3n: 50% ser\u00e1 para Parisi y la otra mitad se la repartir\u00e1n, a partes iguales, entre Manabe y Hasselmann.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
