{"id":154891,"date":"2023-02-02T15:48:27","date_gmt":"2023-02-02T15:48:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/?p=154891"},"modified":"2024-12-09T20:50:50","modified_gmt":"2024-12-10T02:50:50","slug":"institute-for-obesity-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/salud\/institute-for-obesity-research\/","title":{"rendered":"The Institute for Obesity Research busca soluciones innovadoras contra la obesidad"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>En febrero de 2022, el<strong>&nbsp;Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey&nbsp;<\/strong>present\u00f3<strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/tec.mx\/en\/research\/institute-obesity-research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Institute for Obesity Research<\/a><\/strong>, un centro para hacerle frente a la&nbsp;<strong>pandemia de obesidad&nbsp;<\/strong>que, de acuerdo a la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS), cada a\u00f1o mata 2.8 millones de personas a nivel mundial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLa obesidad es un problema multifactorial. No podemos tratar de ver este problema que genera una de las grandes complicaciones de salud no solamente en M\u00e9xico sino en todos los pa\u00edses desarrollados, desde una sola visi\u00f3n\u00bb, dijo&nbsp;<strong>Guillermo Torre Amione<\/strong>, vicepresidente de investigaci\u00f3n del Tec y rector de&nbsp;TecSalud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La obesidad tiene componentes gen\u00e9ticos, biol\u00f3gicos, ambientales, culturales y econ\u00f3micos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por esta raz\u00f3n,&nbsp;<strong>The Institute for Obesity Research tiene como objetivo generar conocimiento cient\u00edfico, desarrollar terapias, dispositivos y alimentos saludables,<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>habilitar empresas de base cient\u00edfica-tecnol\u00f3gica que promuevan la salud metab\u00f3lica<\/strong>&nbsp;y apoyar a la toma de decisiones para sociedades m\u00e1s sanas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El centro fue presentado durante el&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/content.tecsalud.mx\/congreso-investigacion-en-obesidad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Congreso Internacional de Investigaci\u00f3n en Obesidad<\/a>, al cual se sumaron de manera presencial y remota distintos especialistas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 har\u00e1 frente The Institute for Obesity Research a la pandemia de obesidad?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Institute for Obesity Research estar\u00e1 conformado por&nbsp;<strong>cinco unidades de investigaci\u00f3n<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Una de ellas, la de<strong>&nbsp;Medicina Experimental y Terapias Avanzadas&nbsp;<\/strong>ser\u00e1 dirigida por&nbsp;<strong>Gerardo Garc\u00eda-Rivas<\/strong>, doctor en biolog\u00eda molecular la de<strong>&nbsp;Bioingenier\u00eda y Dispositivos M\u00e9dicos<\/strong>, con<strong>&nbsp;Marco Rito<\/strong>, bioqu\u00edmico e ingeniero qu\u00edmico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La unidad de&nbsp;<strong>Alimentos Saludables<\/strong>, liderada por la&nbsp;<strong><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/humano-social\/janet-gutierrez-alimentos\/\"   title=\"Janet Guti\u00e9rrez: la investigaci\u00f3n en alimentos puede transformar la salud y el emprendimiento\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"107\">Janet Guti\u00e9rrez<\/a><\/strong>, experta en biotecnolog\u00eda y ganadora del Premio de Investigaci\u00f3n 2020; la de&nbsp;<strong>Biolog\u00eda Integrativa<\/strong>, con&nbsp;<strong>Roc\u00edo D\u00edaz<\/strong>, doctora en el Programa de Biolog\u00eda Molecular y Celular Vegetal y la de<strong>&nbsp;Pol\u00edtica y Emprendimiento P\u00fablicos<\/strong>, con&nbsp;<strong>Gustavo Merino<\/strong>, doctor y maestro en Pol\u00edticas P\u00fablicas por la Universidad de Harvard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El centro contar\u00e1 con la ayuda de tres escuelas del Tec:&nbsp;<strong>Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud<\/strong>, Ingenier\u00eda y Ciencias y la&nbsp;<strong>Escuela de Gobierno<\/strong>, as\u00ed como m\u00faltiples laboratorios de la instituci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abCreemos que tenemos las capacidades y la responsabilidad de hacer investigaci\u00f3n de un mayor impacto que se traduzca en beneficios para la sociedad\u00bb, dijo&nbsp;<strong>David Garza Salazar, rector y presidente ejecutivo del Tec de Monterrey.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, asegur\u00f3 que con la apertura de este Instituto se da un paso contundente hacia el cumplimiento de las metas trazadas dentro del Plan Estrat\u00e9gico 2025, en el cual la investigaci\u00f3n es parte fundamental para lograr resultados que transformen la vida de las personas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Institute for Obesity Research arranca operaciones en Monterrey, Nuevo Le\u00f3n y pretende expandirse a otras entidades federativas en los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-la-pandemia-de-obesidad-en-mexico\">La pandemia de obesidad en M\u00e9xico<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Para 2030, el 40% de los mexicanos adultos sufrir\u00e1 alg\u00fan problema de obesidad<\/strong>, calcula la Organizaci\u00f3n para la Cooperaci\u00f3n y Desarrollo Econ\u00f3micos (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/about\/secretary-general\/heavy-burden-of-obesity-mexico-january-2020-es.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OCDE<\/a>).<strong>&nbsp;The Institute for Obesity Research quiere incidir en estas estad\u00edsticas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De acuerdo con la OMS, el exceso de grasa corporal disminuye la esperanza de vida de una persona entre cinco y 20 a\u00f1os y, adem\u00e1s, es uno de los principales factores de riesgo en nueve tipos de c\u00e1ncer: mama, \u00fatero, colon, ri\u00f1\u00f3n, ves\u00edcula biliar, p\u00e1ncreas, recto, es\u00f3fago y ovario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De hecho, en medio de la crisis sanitaria por SARS-CoV-2,<strong>&nbsp;esta comorbilidad es la que m\u00e1s riesgos
