{"id":156757,"date":"2023-05-11T22:10:49","date_gmt":"2023-05-11T22:10:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/?p=156757"},"modified":"2024-12-09T20:45:51","modified_gmt":"2024-12-10T02:45:51","slug":"obesidad-e-insuficiencia-cardiaca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/salud\/obesidad-e-insuficiencia-cardiaca\/","title":{"rendered":"Obesidad, el mayor factor de riesgo para fallas cardiacas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cardiology.wustl.edu\/people\/douglas-l-mann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Douglas Lowell Mann<\/a> es profesor de Biolog\u00eda Celular y Fisiolog\u00eda de la Escuela de Medicina de la Universidad de Washington en St. Louis y dedica su trabajo al estudio de las fallas cardiacas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c9l asegura que la <strong>obesidad y el sobrepeso<\/strong> (tanto en hombres como en mujeres) son los <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/full\/10.1161\/CIRCULATIONAHA.110.954388\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">principales factores de riesgo para problemas del coraz\u00f3n.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante su conferencia en la segunda edici\u00f3n del <a href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/tag\/congreso-internacional-de-investigacion-sobre-obesidad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Congreso Internacional sobre Investigaci\u00f3n en Obesidad<\/a>, organizado por el <a href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/tag\/institute-for-obesity-research\/\">Institute for Obesity Research<\/a> del Tec de Monterrey, Lowell explic\u00f3 que los tratamientos para el coraz\u00f3n pueden ser efectivos, pero solo para el 50% de las personas. Hay un grupo que necesita trasplantes o dispositivos de asistencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Conferencia con Douglas Lowell, Profesor de Biolog\u00eda Celular y Fisiolog\u00eda de Washington University.\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Xy5GwbNBfHY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Obesidad e insuficiencia cardiaca<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Los problemas cardiacos que sufren los pacientes son varios. Un ejemplo es la Insuficiencia Card\u00edaca Diast\u00f3lica (HFpEF), cuando el miocardio \u2212tejido muscular que bombea la sangre\u2212 no puede llenarse tan f\u00e1cilmente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n, la insuficiencia cardiaca sist\u00f3lica (HFrEF) en donde el miocardio no puede contraerse muy bien y tiene deficiencias a la hora de llevar la sangre al cuerpo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estas condiciones ocasionan un proceso conocido como <strong>Remodelado del Ventr\u00edculo Izquierdo<\/strong> (LV Remodeling), en el que el coraz\u00f3n pierde su capacidad de contraerse, se adelgaza y dilata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Douglas se\u00f1ala que los tratamientos, como p\u00e9rdida de peso o regulaci\u00f3n metab\u00f3lica, e incluso dispositivos m\u00e9dicos, no son suficientes tras el da\u00f1o por fallas cardiacas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En cambio, considera que la <strong>prevenci\u00f3n y la intervenci\u00f3n temprana del sobrepeso<\/strong>, obesidad y otros factores de riesgo, pueden ser de ayuda frente a estas condiciones m\u00e9dicas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Da\u00f1os irreversibles <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lowell afirm\u00f3 que existen tratamientos que ayudan a revertir las fallas cardiacas en diferente medida, sin embargo, el \u00e9xito no es frecuente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estas fallas, explica, no son solamente debido a episodios aislados como infartos, sino a condiciones paulatinas como el mismo sobrepeso, presi\u00f3n arterial alta y diabetes, entre otros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estas fallas ocasionan una disminuci\u00f3n en la fracci\u00f3n de eyecci\u00f3n, es decir, el proceso en el que el coraz\u00f3n bombea la sangre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esto llega a afectar la calidad de vida de las personas y genera una mayor reincidencia en hospitalizaciones por insuficiencias cardiacas, incluso, la muerte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pesar de que algunos pacientes parecen haber vuelto a tener una \u201cfunci\u00f3n cardiaca normal\u201d, tras diversos tratamientos, el retorno a un estado \u00f3ptimo de la salud del coraz\u00f3n sucede en la minor\u00eda de los casos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCom\u00fanmente hay una recuperaci\u00f3n parcial tras una falla cardiaca, alrededor de entre 40% y 50%, pero desafortunadamente hay un grupo de gente a quien no le va bien que tiene que recurrir a trasplantes y dispositivos de asistencia ventricular\u201d, dice Lowell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><picture>\r\n                <source class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La clave est\u00e1 en la prevenci\u00f3n <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Douglas explica que, despu\u00e9s de que los pacientes reciben tratamiento o terapias, pueden mantenerse estables durante algunos a\u00f1os o, incluso, por el resto de sus vidas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sin embargo, estas personas pueden desarrollar fallas cardiacas m\u00e1s graves con el paso del tiempo, a pesar de que reciban las mejores terapias existentes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEsto representa una oportunidad para la innovaci\u00f3n y descubrimiento de nuevos medicamentos y tratamientos\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentro de sus observaciones finales, Lowell insisti\u00f3 en que uno de los posibles mejores tratamientos actuales consiste en el fortalecimiento de una <strong>cultura de prevenci\u00f3n<\/strong> de los factores que contribuyen a las fallas cardiacas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLa p\u00e9rdida de peso y la dieta no son suficientes por s\u00ed solas, deber\u00eda haber pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas de salud para terapias de p\u00e9rdida de peso y prevenci\u00f3n\u201d, afirm\u00f3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Douglas
