Se trata de una pr\u00e1ctica que, \u00faltimamente, ha tomado auge por los beneficios que conlleva <strong>cuando se realiza de manera saludable<\/strong>, bajo supervisi\u00f3n m\u00e9dica. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/research.tec.mx\/vivo-tec\/display\/PID_96870\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Noem\u00ed Garc\u00eda<\/a>, investigadora del <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/en\/tag\/institute-for-obesity-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Institute for Obesity Research<\/a><\/strong>, dice, en entrevista con <strong><em>TecScience<\/em><\/strong>, que una de las mentiras m\u00e1s difundidas alrededor del este tipo de restricci\u00f3n alimentaria es que <strong>ayuda a bajar de peso<\/strong>, pero, de hecho, puede ocurrir lo contrario.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<strong>El ayuno intermitente no ayuda a bajar de peso<\/strong>. Se debe aplicar por periodos cortos, entre uno a dos meses. <strong>Si se hace constantemente<\/strong>, el organismo responde a una condici\u00f3n de peligro y, lejos de perder peso, <strong>se empieza a ganar<\/strong> <strong>peso<\/strong>\u201d, explica.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dado que el cuerpo se acostumbra a no tener alimento, entonces, se prepara y comienza a incrementar la reserva de \u00e1cidos grasos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"\u00bfQu\u00e9 soluciones promete la ciencia del futuro para combatir la obesidad infantil?\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LlMveyHoqk8?start=4&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ayuno-intermitente\"><strong>Ayuno intermitente<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Existen varios beneficios del ayuno intermitente; la investigadora Garc\u00eda destaca dos: contra el envejecimiento y para controlar la diabetes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el primer caso, <strong>se activan mecanismos que protegen al cuerpo en contra de los oxidantes<\/strong>, es decir, radicales libres que producen da\u00f1os celulares y aceleran el envejecimiento. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n, <strong>puede ser ben\u00e9fico para quienes padecen diabetes tipo 2<\/strong>, pues retrasa el da\u00f1o progresivo que lleva la enfermedad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAyuda a incrementar la sensibilidad a la insulina, es decir, permite que la insulina lleve a cabo su funci\u00f3n a nivel celular\u201d, comenta la investigadora del <a href=\"https:\/\/tec.mx\/en\/research\/institute-obesity-research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Institute for Obesity Research<\/a> y advierte que es una pr\u00e1ctica que debe <strong>realizarse con vigilancia m\u00e9dica<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el laboratorio, <strong>Garc\u00eda estudia los beneficios que podr\u00eda tener el ayuno intermitente con ciertos tipos de enfermedades cardiovasculares<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La explicaci\u00f3n es que, durante el ayuno, se liberan cuerpos cet\u00f3nicos \u2212que se producen en el h\u00edgado y su funci\u00f3n es suministrar energ\u00eda al cerebro\u2212, los cuales, en cantidades balanceadas, podr\u00edan ser un sustrato energ\u00e9tico ben\u00e9fico para un coraz\u00f3n con lesi\u00f3n.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSin embargo, hay que controlar qu\u00e9 tanto se puede incrementar la generaci\u00f3n de cuerpos cet\u00f3nicos, hay un umbral, si lo rebasamos hay efectos negativos, pero, si hay un l\u00edmite, esos cuerpos tambi\u00e9n activan respuestas celulares que benefician. Nos interesa saber cu\u00e1l es ese nivel\u201d, explica la especialista.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De acuerdo con un an\u00e1lisis de investigaciones sobre el tema, Garc\u00eda ha encontrado estudios que indican que el ayuno tambi\u00e9n beneficia a los<strong> ritmos circadianos<\/strong>, estos son los ciclos de cambios que el cuerpo experimenta durante el d\u00eda, por lo que pueden contribuir a dormir mejor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay distintos esquemas de ayuno intermitente, mismos que pueden ir desde 16 por 8 horas hasta 24 por 24, entre otros. Sin embargo, para la especialista es importante recalcar que lo mejor es hacerlo bajo vigilancia m\u00e9dica, tener en cuenta que no ayudar\u00e1 a bajar de peso y, finalmente, hacer el ayuno
