Su legado se extiende a la formaci\u00f3n de cient\u00edficos, la publicaci\u00f3n de libros y la obtenci\u00f3n de patentes que han contribuido al avance de la industria alimentaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduado del Tec de Monterrey y con un doctorado en Texas A&amp;M University, Serna Sald\u00edvar combin\u00f3 la academia con la colaboraci\u00f3n industrial, impulsando soluciones para enfrentar los retos nutricionales en M\u00e9xico y el mundo. Su trabajo fue reconocido con el <a href=\"\/es\/biotecnologia\/premio-nacional-de-ciencias-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Premio Nacional de Ciencias 2023<\/a> y un Doctorado Honoris Causa por la Universidad de Sonora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2013, fue galardonado con la categor\u00eda \u201cInsignia\u201d del <a href=\"\/es\/tag\/premio-romulo-garza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Premio R\u00f3mulo Garza<\/a> y obtuvo de nuevo el galard\u00f3n por su libro <em><a href=\"https:\/\/shop.elsevier.com\/books\/corn\/serna-saldivar\/978-0-12-811971-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Corn: Chemistry and Technology<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"El lado B del profesor Sergio Serna\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OjEW2WQXFhw?start=8&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cUna persona excepcional\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/tecscience.tec.mx\/es\/humano-social\/janet-gutierrez-alimentos\/\"   title=\"Janet Guti\u00e9rrez: la investigaci\u00f3n en alimentos puede transformar la salud y el emprendimiento\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"126\">Janet Guti\u00e9rrez<\/a><\/strong>, decana asociada del Desarrollo de la Facultad de la Escuela de Ingenier\u00eda y Ciencias (EIC), califica a Serna como \u201cla persona m\u00e1s excepcional que he conocido en este planeta. Si hoy, f\u00edsicamente, deja de estar con nosotros, su legado como ser humano, cient\u00edfico y l\u00edder resuena bajo los pies de muchos que hoy estamos donde estamos gracias a su empe\u00f1o, determinaci\u00f3n y gran coraz\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jorge E. Valdez<\/strong>, director de Vinculaci\u00f3n de Internacionalizaci\u00f3n en TecSalud y editor cient\u00edfico de <strong><em>TecScience<\/em><\/strong>, calific\u00f3 a Serna como \u201cejemplar en su quehacer acad\u00e9mico y cient\u00edfico. Un referente en la biotecnolog\u00eda. Gran formador de talento y de notoria generosidad de su experiencia y conocimiento. De trato afable, cercano y sencillo. Un hombre de familia\u201d y agreg\u00f3: \u201cLo extra\u00f1aremos. Un privilegio haber coincidido en este tiempo en el Tec de Monterrey\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daniel Jacobo<\/strong>, decano de investigaci\u00f3n de la Escuela de Ingenier\u00eda y Ciencia (EIC), escribi\u00f3: \u00abhoy despedimos al Dr. Sergio Serna, un pilar en la ciencia y tecnolog\u00eda de alimentos, cuya pasi\u00f3n y dedicaci\u00f3n dejaron una huella imborrable en quienes tuvimos el honor de conocerlo. Su incansable labor de investigaci\u00f3n transform\u00f3 la alimentaci\u00f3n y la salud de innumerables personas, consolid\u00e1ndolo como una referencia en su campo. Adem\u00e1s, fue una figura clave en el impulso a la investigaci\u00f3n dentro de nuestra instituci\u00f3n, contribuyendo significativamente a posicionar al Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey como un referente en temas de alimentaci\u00f3n y salud\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo describi\u00f3 como \u201csiempre amable, alegre y respetuoso, ten\u00eda una genuina vocaci\u00f3n por ayudar a los dem\u00e1s. Su disposici\u00f3n para compartir su conocimiento, su entusiasmo por la ciencia y su calidez humana hicieron de \u00e9l un mentor incomparable y un ejemplo a seguir\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jacobo agreg\u00f3 que el \u201cDr. Serna fue mucho m\u00e1s que un mentor; fue un padre acad\u00e9mico cuya gu\u00eda e inspiraci\u00f3n moldearon mi camino profesional.
