Valdez<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Todos los d\u00edas escuchamos noticias sobre la crisis que est\u00e1 generando el cambio clim\u00e1tico y la conveniencia de virar hacia las energ\u00edas renovables, sobre el surgimiento de nuevas enfermedades y la capacidad de la inteligencia artificial para procesar informaci\u00f3n que ayude a generar nuevos antibi\u00f3ticos. Esto solo por mencionar algunos de los muchos retos que la ciencia enfrenta y sus avances. Los temas est\u00e1n ah\u00ed pero, \u00bfrealmente comprendemos su importancia?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pienso en la pel\u00edcula de 2021, <em>Don\u2019t Look Up<\/em> donde un astr\u00f3nomo, interpretado por Leonardo DiCaprio, trata de advertir al mundo sobre la cat\u00e1strofe que se avecina y, sin embargo, la audiencia imp\u00e1vida hace o\u00eddos sordos al asunto.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Desgraciadamente, esa parodia es un reflejo de nuestra sociedad y sigue perfectamente vigente.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lograr <strong>una alfabetizaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica en nuestra sociedad, de manera que sea informada y cr\u00edtica, es m\u00e1s relevante que nunca<\/strong> para que todos, en conjunto, tomemos decisiones que favorezcan una mejor vida en el planeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El concepto alfabetizaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica fue popularizado por Paul Hurd en 1958, cuando acus\u00f3 que el problema inmediato en la educaci\u00f3n era \u201ccerrar la brecha entre la riqueza de los logros cient\u00edficos y la pobreza de la alfabetizaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica en Estados Unidos\u201d. Para Hurd, la r\u00e1pida innovaci\u00f3n en la ciencia y la tecnolog\u00eda exig\u00eda una educaci\u00f3n \u201capropiada para enfrentar los desaf\u00edos de una revoluci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica emergente\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subyacente a la llamada de Hurd estaba la idea de que \u201ccierto dominio de la ciencia es una preparaci\u00f3n esencial para la vida moderna\u201d. La alfabetizaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica se enfoca en desarrollar habilidades y conocimientos b\u00e1sicos en ciencia, tecnolog\u00eda, ingenier\u00eda y matem\u00e1ticas (STEM) para que las personas puedan tomar decisiones informadas sobre temas que afectan su vida cotidiana.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La <strong>alfabetizaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica implica m\u00e1s que conocer conceptos b\u00e1sicos, es la capacidad de utilizar la informaci\u00f3n para analizar y comprender <\/strong>c\u00f3mo la ciencia es moldeada por la sociedad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Marco del Programa para la Evaluaci\u00f3n Internacional de Alumnos (PISA) de la Organizaci\u00f3n para la Cooperaci\u00f3n y el Desarrollo Econ\u00f3micos (OCDE) define la alfabetizaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica como \u00abla capacidad de comprometerse con cuestiones relacionadas con la ciencia, y con las ideas de la ciencia, como un ciudadano reflexivo.\u00bb&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por supuesto, la divulgaci\u00f3n de la ciencia y la consecuente alfabetizaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica tienen <strong>varios retos como la complejidad del lenguaje cient\u00edfico, la desinformaci\u00f3n y la pseudociencia, as\u00ed como la brecha digital<\/strong>. Por ello es tan fundamental el uso de un lenguaje claro y accesible, la validaci\u00f3n de la informaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica a trav\u00e9s de fuentes confiables as\u00ed como fomentar la alfabetizaci\u00f3n digital y el acceso equitativo a la informaci\u00f3n. Finalmente, se debe <strong>buscar la colaboraci\u00f3n entre cient\u00edficos, comunicadores y educadores<\/strong> para desarrollar estrategias efectivas de divulgaci\u00f3n y alfabetizaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al comunicar conceptos cient\u00edficos de manera accesible se fomenta la comprensi\u00f3n y se promueve <strong>el pensamiento cr\u00edtico, el an\u00e1lisis de evidencia y la evaluaci\u00f3n lo que permite la toma de decisiones informadas<\/strong> sobre temas de salud, medio ambiente y tecnolog\u00eda que tienen un impacto en nuestra vida.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proporcionar acceso a <strong>la informaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica fortalece a la democracia<\/strong> pues se impulsa a una ciudadan\u00eda m\u00e1s informada y participativa en la toma de decisiones pol\u00edticas y sociales. Quiz\u00e1s por ello el reci\u00e9n estrenado gobierno de los vecinos del norte es tan enemigo de ella.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/research.tec.mx\/vivo-tec\/display\/PID_1366?_gl=1*1rvt9rf*_gcl_au*ODAxMDU4MzMzLjE3MzI2NDY5ODI.*_ga*NzM1OTkxMzkuMTczMjY0Njk4MQ..*_ga_D9LSDN87GD*MTczMjY4MzY2MC45LjEuMTczMjY4Mzc1MS42MC4wLjExNjk3NDQ1NjM.\"><strong>Jorge Eugenio Valdez Garc\u00eda<\/strong><\/a> es director de Vinculaci\u00f3n de Internacionalizaci\u00f3n de TecSalud, y profesor investigador de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tecsalud.mx\/escuelademedicina\">Escuela de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud<\/a> del Tec de Monterrey.
