Ella inspir\u00f3 a generaciones enteras y siempre contagi\u00f3 su pasi\u00f3n por la astronom\u00eda; pero sin duda, su mayor talento siempre fue el de tender puentes entre el conocimiento y la gente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sin embargo, algunos podr\u00edan preguntarse: \u00bfqui\u00e9n fue Julieta Fierro? Para responder, debemos remontarnos a mediados de la d\u00e9cada de 1970, cuando conclu\u00eda la licenciatura en F\u00edsica en la UNAM, y a 1982 cuando obtuvo el grado de Maestra en Ciencias con una tesis dedicada al estudio de las condiciones f\u00edsicas de la galaxia espiral M101, a partir de observaciones de hidr\u00f3geno ionizado distribuidas a lo largo de su disco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apenas cuatro a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde public\u00f3 su primer art\u00edculo en <em>Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific<\/em>, esta vez con un an\u00e1lisis similar pero aplicado a la galaxia NGC 2403. Todo ello lo realiz\u00f3 bajo la mentor\u00eda de Manuel Peimbert y Silvia Torres, figuras clave en la consolidaci\u00f3n de la astronom\u00eda profesional en M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En ese contexto se form\u00f3 Julieta Fierro, quien con el tiempo se convertir\u00eda en <strong>la astr\u00f3noma m\u00e1s reconocida por la sociedad mexicana<\/strong>. Pero&#8230; \u00bfqu\u00e9 hac\u00eda tan peculiar a Julieta Fierro? La respuesta es sencilla: pose\u00eda una extraordinaria capacidad para <strong>desmenuzar los conceptos m\u00e1s complejos de la f\u00edsica y la astronom\u00eda<\/strong>, y para presentarlos de manera clara y sencilla, haci\u00e9ndolos accesibles al p\u00fablico no especializado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A esta habilidad la acompa\u00f1aba <strong>una chispa \u00fanica<\/strong>, pues lograba que sus charlas fueran participativas, cercanas y, a menudo, divertidas: ya fuera vestida con un tut\u00fa mientras interpretaba la danza de Galileo, subi\u00e9ndose a las mesas, lanzando pelotas al p\u00fablico, siempre con amabilidad, siempre con cercan\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Una personalidad as\u00ed es <strong>indispensable para la ciencia<\/strong>, sobre todo en un contexto en el que con frecuencia es malinterpretada, relegada o sustituida por mitos. Se necesitan cient\u00edficos que generen conocimiento, s\u00ed, pero tambi\u00e9n profesionales capaces de transmitirlo y sensibilizar a la sociedad acerca de su importancia, para que el progreso cient\u00edfico no se detenga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Su partida duele<\/strong> profundamente a la comunidad astron\u00f3mica, pero reconforta ver a cientos de profesionales que hoy escriben mensajes en los que reconocen haber estudiado F\u00edsica y Astrof\u00edsica gracias a ella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los m\u00faltiples reconocimientos que obtuvo, <strong>el verdadero legado de Julieta Fierro<\/strong> est\u00e1 en las vocaciones que despert\u00f3 y en la manera en que transform\u00f3 la relaci\u00f3n de cientos de personas con la ciencia, a trav\u00e9s de sus libros, sus conferencias y, sobre todo, su pasi\u00f3n por compartir el Universo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoy <strong>Julieta regresa al cosmos<\/strong> que estudi\u00f3, comparti\u00f3 y nos ense\u00f1\u00f3 a mirar con asombro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Carolina Rodr\u00edguez Garza<\/strong>,\u00a0es directora nacional de la carrera de Ingenier\u00eda F\u00edsica Industrial (IFI), de la Escuela de Ingenier\u00eda y Ciencias, del Tec de Monterrey. Es conocida como <a href=\"https:\/\/conecta.tec.mx\/es\/noticias\/monterrey\/educacion\/ella-es-la-mujer-cohete-profesora-en-mty-y-promotora-de-la-ciencia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cLa Mujer Cohete\u201d,<\/a> por ser la primera astrof\u00edsica en dirigir el programa IFI y ser\u00a0coautora del\u00a0primer art\u00edculo de radioastronom\u00eda con afiliaci\u00f3n al Tec, publicado en la revista\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.3847\/1538-3881\/ac052c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Astronomical Journal<\/a>\u00a0sobre el hallazgo de m\u00e1seres (mol\u00e9culas) de agua en dos protoestrellas de la regi\u00f3n Serpens
