Innovar en educaci\u00f3n es una misi\u00f3n central de las instituciones acad\u00e9micas en todo el mundo.<\/strong> Para lograrlo, los especialistas coinciden en que la investigaci\u00f3n debe guiar ese proceso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLo fundamental es tener evidencia en educaci\u00f3n y saber qu\u00e9 s\u00ed funciona y qu\u00e9 no\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 Javier Guzm\u00e1n<\/a>, vicepresidente de Investigaci\u00f3n<\/a> del Tec de Monterrey,<\/strong> durante su participaci\u00f3n en el panel Without Evidence, There is No Innovation. The Power of Educational Research<\/a>, <\/em>realizado en el primer d\u00eda del IFE Conference 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El panel fue moderado por Luis Portales<\/a>, director de Experimentaci\u00f3n y Medici\u00f3n de Impacto del Institute for the Future of Education<\/a> (IFE) del Tec de Monterrey, y en \u00e9l Javier Guzm\u00e1n, junto con Juan Jos\u00e9 \u00abJuanjo\u00bb Mena<\/a>, investigador de la Universidad de Salamanca, y Francisco Garc\u00eda<\/a>, profesor investigador de la misma instituci\u00f3n, analizaron por qu\u00e9 es necesario hacer investigaci\u00f3n sobre las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas, herramientas e intervenciones que se usan para educar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los especialistas coincidieron en que la educaci\u00f3n tiene el poder de transformar sociedades, pero para saber si realmente funciona, la investigaci\u00f3n es su mejor aliada. \u201cEs importante para que la innovaci\u00f3n genere impacto\u201d, dijo Mena. \u201cYo creo que porque orienta, legitima y hace responsable a la innovaci\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desde su perspectiva, cuando la innovaci\u00f3n no se pone a prueba, puede convertirse en una creencia, en lugar de una evidencia, lo cual podr\u00eda impedir que se tomen decisiones informadas para el progreso de la educaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigaci\u00f3n y nuevas tecnolog\u00edas en educaci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Para los panelistas, la investigaci\u00f3n debe ser el eje de la innovaci\u00f3n, especialmente en el uso de nuevas tecnolog\u00edas aplicadas a la educaci\u00f3n, como la inteligencia artificial<\/a> (IA). \u201cEn diez a\u00f1os estaremos hablando de otra tecnolog\u00eda y tendremos que incorporarla, pero siempre tenemos que regresar a la pregunta fundamental de por qu\u00e9 hacemos esto\u201d, enfatiz\u00f3 Guzm\u00e1n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

La IA y otras tecnolog\u00edas pueden ayudar, pero si no se aplican entendiendo el contexto espec\u00edfico de cada sal\u00f3n de clases, pa\u00eds y regi\u00f3n, el riesgo de que existan sesgos que frenen los beneficios que podr\u00edan traer es alto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEs importante ir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la mera tecnolog\u00eda; hay que darle un uso para que realmente se provoque ese cambio\u201d, explic\u00f3 Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la coyuntura tecnol\u00f3gica, los ponentes coincidieron en un punto central: la educaci\u00f3n necesita evidencia para avanzar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aunque hist\u00f3ricamente ha sido guiada por la tradici\u00f3n, en a\u00f1os recientes la evidencia se ha vuelto clave para mejorar la ense\u00f1anza y el dise\u00f1o curricular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De acuerdo con los especialistas, avanzar en educaci\u00f3n y evaluar si las innovaciones funcionan requiere investigaci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, debe ser longitudinal, con generaci\u00f3n de datos abiertos y contextualizada a cada situaci\u00f3n particular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLa brecha entre los dise\u00f1os de investigaci\u00f3n y la pr\u00e1ctica en la vida real siempre ha existido, es entre teor\u00eda y pr\u00e1ctica\u201d, dijo Mena. \u201cTe tienes que ajustar a los contextos, a las dificultades que tienen tus alumnos o las din\u00e1micas de las instituciones\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hacia una innovaci\u00f3n educativa basada en evidencia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

De acuerdo con Guzm\u00e1n, en M\u00e9xico y Am\u00e9rica Latina, la evidencia no siempre ha guiado la toma de decisiones en educaci\u00f3n u otras \u00e1reas de desarrollo, lo cual ha frenado su poder de transformaci\u00f3n. \u201cLa investigaci\u00f3n que hagamos tiene que ser aplicada, necesitamos definir qu\u00e9 significa eso para la educaci\u00f3n\u201d, dijo Guzm\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A futuro, los especialistas coinciden en que la investigaci\u00f3n debe incorporarse desde la primera fase de cualquier innovaci\u00f3n educativa, para que realmente tenga impacto, concluy\u00f3 Guzm\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
