As part of the annual evaluation of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, Tecnológico de Monterrey managed to position 28 of its disciplines amongst the 55 evaluated globally.
In this edition, academic contributions to five major areas of knowledge were evaluated: Arts and Humanities; Engineering and Technology; Life Sciences and Medicine; Natural Sciences; and Social Sciences and Administration.
The review that determined the university’s rankings within their respective areas was based on five key indicators: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations, H Index, and International Research Network.
Juan Pablo Murra, dean of Professional and Postgraduate Studies at Tec de Monterrey, highlighted the institution’s commitment to creating a community of innovation and learning, promoting impactful research with the goal of creating value for society.
“The positive results that this ranking shows are a direct consequence of the hard work and commitment of our deans, their team and our entire faculty,” said Murra.
Ranking QS by Subject 2024
The academic disciplines in which the institution stood out the most, ranking among the top 100 globally were:

- Business and Administration (23rd place)
- Art and Design (50th place)
- Architecture / Built Environment (51st)
- Engineering / Mechanical and Manufacturing (68th)
- Accounting and Finance (71st)
- Education (83rd)
- Computer Science and Information Systems (rank 84)
- Engineering / Electrical and Electronics (97th)
In this new edition of the QS World University Ranking by Subject, 1,559 universities were evaluated, including 51 new institutions to be rated.

Tec increases its ranking in the five major areas of evaluation
As part of the general evaluations per area, Tec de Monterrey managed to improve in all its scores, with the highest increase being of almost seven points in the area of Arts and Humanities in parallel to an approximate increment of four points in the area of Science and Medicine.
In the Social Sciences and Administration category, Tec reached 36th place, improving its evaluation score from 78.8 to 79.8.
When it came to the Engineering and Technology area, Tec climbed 11 positions, reaching 61st place with a score of 77.8, compared to 77.5 last year.
With a rise of 48 positions, reaching position 188 with a score that increased from 63.6 to 70.2, the Arts and Humanities area showed one of the most dramatic improvements in the 2024 ranking.
Likewise, an important achievement to recognize is that in the area of Life Sciences and Medicine, Tec managed to surpass the 401-450 band, improving the overall score from 55.6 to 59.5 and ranking 394th.
Finally, in Natural Sciences, it also surpassed a band by obtaining a score that increased from 59.5 to 60.3 and positioned the institution between the 401-450 rank.

Since 2011, QS Quacquarelli Symonds Limited has created this ranking with the aim of evaluating at a global level five areas of knowledge and 55 disciplines within them.
